Shimla, May 15: All necessary arrangements have been put in place for counting of votes tomorrow, for the 4 Lok Sabha and one Assembly seats, which went to polls in Himachal Pradesh on May 7.
Official sources said the counting will be taken up at 18 polling centres across the state, amid three-tier security arrangements.
The four Parliamentary Constituencies which went to polls were Shimla (Reserve), Kangra, Mandi and Hamirpur.
The polling to the by-election was also held to Sujanpur Assembly Constituency.
Initially, counting for as many as 65,856 postal ballots, which play a significant role in deciding the fate of the candidates will be taken up.
In Kangra and Hamirpur Parliamentary constituencies, sizeable number of people are serving in armed forces and the polled postal ballots of these voters serving in the Army or other Paramilitary forces were sent to the counting centres.
Later, the EVMs counting will begin for the Lok Sabha and Assembly seats at 0830 hrs under the supervision of observers nominated by the election commission.
The counting of votes for Lahaul-Spiti assembly segment will be taken up at Keylong, the district headquarters of Lahaul & Spiti instead of Kaza. The Assembly segment comes under Mandi Parliamentary constituency.
The entire counting process would be videographed and the final results will be out by late in the afternoon of tomorrow.
Mobile phones and any such electronic device which can record audio or video would not to be allowed inside the counting hall, sources in the Election Commission said.
Mediapersons would be permitted to carry mobile phones upto Media Centre in counting location for use inside it. (Agency)
