New Delhi: Congress today stepped up attack against Narendra Modi in the wake of allegations by a senior police official of his support to post-Godhra rioters, saying victims will not get justice as long as he is the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
“As long as Narendra Modi is Chief Minister, the victims cannot get justice there,” party general secretary Digvijay Singh told reporters replying to a volley of questions on the recent affidavit filed by IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt in the Supreme Court on post-Godhara riots in 2002.
The officer had said that he was present in a meeting on February 27, 2002 where Modi said the Muslims should be taught a lesson for the Godhra riots.
Singh’s reaction came on a day when former BJP President Rajnath Singh came to Modi’s defence saying he could not even imagine that the Gujarat Chief Minister could do so.
