Srinagar, Dec 2 (KMW): A day after the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Jammu stated that Article 370 was introduced by Jawaharlal Nehru so that it could get eroded with the passage of time, Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, additional general secretary National Conference on Monday accused Congress of diluting the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

While talking to News Agency, Kamal observed that the Congress party at New Delhi in the past tried its best to erode Article 370 and that the history bears witness that the Congress in collaboration with its installed governments in Jammu and Kashmir, always played a vital role in ‘uprooting’ the special status of the state.

Kamal maintained further: “The amendments have been done to the Article 370 at several occasions and the centre tried its utmost to strengthen its position in the state. The former state’s chief minster Ghulam Mohammad Sadiq termed Article 370 a big rock in the middle of the river and held various meets with the centre to throw it away.”

Kamal stated that the dilution of Article 370 was done by New Delhi under the planned conspiracy and then governments in the state were hand in glove with Delhi for the same. “You had the Congress government in centre till 1977 and the dilution of the article 370 was only done by the congress.” He further said that 92 laws have been passed by the state government by amending the state constitution. And that move weakened the article 370 in the state.”

Kamal claimed that the governments have been installed by New Delhi in the state and the governments here obliged New Delhi in every move against the state and the Article 370 become the worst victim due to the bond.

Pertinently, Narendra Modi in the recently held rally at Jammu stated that the BJP is ready to hold the debate over article 370 and that Nehru introduced the article in the constitution so that it could get eroded with time.
