Civilian, woman constable injured in militant attack in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 4 : A lady constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police and a civilian were injured when unidentified militants opened fire at a police party at Awantipora on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, a police spokesperson said here tonight.

He said militants opened fire at a bus, which was ferrying police personnel after conclusion of their Muharram duty, at Awantipora in Pulwama district of south Kashmir at 1715 hrs.

One civilian, Umer Ali, a resident of Batpora, and a lady constable, identified as Shazada, were injured in the attack. The injured were immediately taken to a hospital.
