SRINAGAR: The Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Mr. R.S. Chib today conducted an extensive tour of the Srinagar city hospitals and inspected various wards, interacted with patients and examined the progress of various construction works presently under execution.
During the inspection, he said that Government is bound to provide every medical facility to the people. He said the coalition government is making every effort that the medical facilities may reach to the needy at the every nook and corner of the State and for this, there are special instructions from the Chief Minister as he is himself very keen to see that people of the State may be provided adequate medical facilities at their door steps.
The Minister during his visit to the SMHS Hospital, Srinagar inspected surgical and medical emergency wards and interacted with patients as well as with doctors. While enquiring about the medical facilities being provided to the patients, Mr. Chib directed the doctors and para-medical staff for maintaining properly the official record, so that the patients can be diagnosed with disciplined manner.
The Minister, later inspected the modification work presently under progress at newly constructed additional OPD building and asked the construction agencies to complete the work immediately so that the patients may not suffer more and the benefits of newly emergency operation theater may reach to the needy patients.
On this occasion, he was informed that the construction work will be completed by ending December, 2011. The building has been completed at the cost of Rs. 694 lakh. The Minister also inspected the execution work of newly constructed Attendant Sarai, comprising on 16 rooms completed at the cost of Rs. 498 lakh. The building has been constructed by JKPCC. The Minister was informed that the building will be completed by the end of December, 2011. He was informed that the Attendant Sarai can accommodate near about 150 people at a time. The rooms are equipped with complete facilities with attached bathrooms etc.
However, Mr. Chib directed the concerned agency to complete all the remaining execution work with stipulated timeframe and said after completion, the Sarai would be handed over to Red Cross Society on the pattern of Attendant sarai for maintaining properly and other things. He said that this will be done to reduce the burden on the Medical College Srinagar which has already a lot of other works.
Meanwhile, the Minister issued the directions to concerned agencies for immediately disposal of wastage and removal of garbage and other dirt near the hospitals. He said, there would be no compromise with sanitation and asked the medical authorities to ensure cleanliness in and around the hospitals.
Later, the Minister also paid a surprise visit to Government Lal Ded Hospital and interacted with various patients. He issued directions to the Medical Superintendent to ensure adequate medical facilities to the women patients and punctuality of the Doctors and other paramedical staff for speedy treatment to the patients. He told the Medical Superintendent that there will be no compromise on providing every kind of medical facility to the needy ones who come here from far-flung areas.
Mr. Chib also reviewed the progress of the newly constructed 200 bedding Lal Dad Extension Hospital, coming at the cost of Rs.40 crores, of which Rs.22.50 crores have been spent on the project till date. He also took stock of the progress of construction work of Registration Centre cum Waiting Hall of newly OPD.
On the occasion, the Minister also get feedback of the progress of the demolition work of the Old A and B blocks of Lal Ded Hospital, whose auction process has already been finalized. The Minister asked the concerned agencies to remove the demolished material within the stipulated time frame from Hospital complex and keep the site clean from any kind of dirt and garbage.
The Minister also enquired about the functioning of heating system and other necessary requirements due to winter in all the Hospitals of Srinagar city, so that the patients may not feel any problem during treatment.
Mr. Chib was accompanied by Principal, Government Medical College Srinagar, Medical Superintendents of SMHS / Lal Ded Hospitals and other Senior Doctors and paramedical staff of the institutions.
