Chib announces Rs. 5 lakh for stadium dev

JAMMU: Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports Mr. R. S. Chib today inaugurated Baba Kailakh Nath Wrestling at village Thathar, Bantalab Jammu.
MLA Domana Raipur Mr. Bharat Bhushan, MLA Jammu West Mr. Chaman Lal Gupta, DIG Jammu Kathua Range Mr. Farooq Khan, President Wrestling Association Mr. Dushyant Sharma and other functionaries associated with the competition were present on the occasion.
Various wrestlers from J&K and neighbouring states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pardesh took part in the wrestling.
As many as, 35 wrestling bouts were held in the competition.
The Final Wrestling was held between Ladu Phalwan of Domseri Akhara and Narinder Phalwan of Delhi in which Ladu Phalwan of Domseri Akhara came out as winner.
It is pertinent to mention here that large number of people witnessed the wrestling championship.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chib said that such type of tournament will boost the morale of the wrestlers adding that the state government was committed to promote sports and host significant sports events in the State. He said it is due to the efforts of J&K Wrestling Association and President Dushyant Sharma, gold medalist and International wrestler that national level championships are being held in the state.
The Minister said that participation of professionals from various parts of the country would provide our budding sports persons an opportunity to learn new techniques and skills and encourage them to leave an indelible mark in national and international events. He said that such events, with the participation of sportsmen and people from other states, will immensely help in further cementing the bonds of brotherhood, amity and communal harmony.
On the occasion, the Minister announced Rs. 5 lakh for upgradation of the stadium.
