Srinagar: Claiming the direct involvement of police in the murder of prisoner Mohammad Ismail Shah, the family of the deceased Friday said that the statement issued by the police is totally misleading while the fact is that Shah was murdered by the police inside the Central Jail Srinagar.

Pertinently, police last Saturday claimed that 48 years old, a prisoner Mohammad Ismail Shah Ismail from Cherat Qazigund who was in the jail since September 6, 2009 for allegedly murdering a couple was hit by another prisoner Ghulam Hassan Malik of Chak-Saidapora, Shopian, with a stone which resulted in his death.
The family of Shah registered strong protest Press Enclave Srinagar demanding the action against the police personnel allegedly involved in his death.
The kins of the deceased threatened to go on a hunger strike till the killers are not nabbed and justice is not delivered to them.
The daughters of the slain person alleged that police killed their father. The protestors chanted anti-police slogans and appealed Chief Minister constitute an independent inquiry into the matter.
“We strongly believe that my father was killed by Central Jail Police. If they did not kill my father, then why are they hiding the post mortem report” lamented Shaheena, daughter of the deceased.
The protestors blamed that Police secretly murdered Shah and then without informing them sent his corpse to SKIMS hospital. “On 6th April we came to know through our relative that my father had been admitted at Soura. We immediately rushed there and saw that my father was hit in the head and he was profusely bleeding even hours after doctors had declared him dead,” said Kulsooma, daughter of Shah. Kulsooma alleged that police had assured them that they will look into the matter and will nab the culprit, but a week had passed, none of the official had approached to them yet in the case.
The police resorted to mild lathi-charge and detained several protestors.
