CEC Kargil Meets Union Minister for Minority and Parliamentary Affairs

New Delhi, February 09, 2026: Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today met Hon’ble Union Minister for Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, at New Delhi and held detailed discussions on issues concerning the welfare and development of Kargil district.

During the meeting, the CEC highlighted key matters related to minority welfare including establishment of Centre of Excellence for skill development at Kargil and establishment of residential hostels at Sub Divisional Headquarters at Kargil under Revised Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) scheme, an initiative of Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India.

The CEC invited special attention of the Hon’ble Minister in establishment of Centre of Excellence for Skill Development for the youth of the district in making them skillful and capable of taking any nature of employment demanded during the current times. This will provide opportunity to the youth of the district in getting skill training as per the requirement keeping in view the limited employment opportunities in the region.

The CEC further emphasized on the support of the Ministry in extension of full benefits of the Central Government schemes to the people of Kargil, designed for the welfare of the minorities in the country.

Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Kiren Rijiju gave a patient hearing to the submissions and assured that the concerns/demands shall be taken up positively in covering the district under the ambit of the schemes of the ministry of Minority Affairs, GoI.
