The event commenced with the National Anthem, followed by a welcome address from Diskit Angmo, who congratulated the graduates from various trades and encouraged them to pursue their careers with confidence. Students welcomed the dignitaries with a melodious song and presented cultural performances, including Sheena folk songs and traditional dances, showcasing the rich heritage of Kargil and Ladakh.

In his address, CEC Dr. Jaffer Akhoon thanked the faculty for their dedication in shaping the students’ future. He emphasized that in today’s world, not every student can secure a government job, which makes skill-based education essential for self-reliance and success. He urged the youth to take up training, internships, and traditional crafts such as wood carving, which hold significant potential in Kargil. Stressing the value of time, he remarked, “Time is money,” and encouraged students to acquire skills wholeheartedly and use them responsibly.

He also reminded the youth of their responsibility towards society, quoting: “Zero tolerance for corruption, one vision for a better nation.”

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, congratulated the graduating students and underlined the role of financial independence through skill development. He highlighted the shortage of skilled professionals in areas such as plumbing, woodwork, electrical services, motor mechanics, welding, and tailoring, urging students to become job creators rather than job seekers. He also referred to government initiatives like the Jan-Hit Camp, designed to support skilled individuals in establishing their ventures, and called upon the youth to actively participate in such programmes to strengthen both their income and the local economy. “If we make the best use of our skills, we will no longer need to depend on outside workers,” he said.

The programme concluded with the distribution of awards and certificates to meritorious students, marking a proud and memorable moment for the graduates and their mentors.
