Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of BSP today demanded ‘trifurcation’ of Jammu and Kashmir for an equitable development of the regions.
“We have submitted a memorandum to the Interlocutors, who are visiting the state, with various demands and suggestions including ‘trifurcation’ of Jammu and Kashmir as one of the most important constituents, which is the only solution for an equitable development of all the three regions,” BSP state president Tulsi Dass Langeh told UNI here.
Mr Langeh said the party representatives told interlocutors that there was a sense of dissatisfaction among all the three regions of the state with regard to disparity among themselves and as a result, this often led to conflicts at several occasions.
“So ours was the opinion that the state should be bifurcated into three parts with Jammu and Kashmir as an independent state and Ladakh as a Union Territory,” the BSP chief said.
The BSP further said the state already enjoys vast powers and there should not be even thinking of autonomy, self rule or azadi.
The party also demanded citizenship rights to West Pakistan refugees, package for migrants, reservation to people of Jammu and Kashmir in certain Universities and institutions of academic excellence, proper implementation of Roshni Act, rehabilitation of people living near the Line of Control and International Border and benefits to the reserved categories including SC, ST and OBCs.
The Interlocutors are on a four-day visit to Jammu region and they will also be holding a two-day Round Table Conference (RTC) on July 11-12 to promote greater understanding of the cultures of various regions and submit the final report to the Union government in September this year.
