“Both ways traffic will be allowed tomorrow. Those intending to travel on the Highway from Srinagar towards Jammu should cross Pantha Chowk between 7 to 9 a.m., Khanbal 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and Qazigund by 11 a.m.,” IGP Traffic Hemant Kumar Lohia told  Jammu correspondent Suhail Panjabi.
Similarly, he said, those travelling towards the Valley from Jammu should cross Nagrota between 6 to 8 a.m. and Udhampur 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Today, no fresh traffic was allowed and only stranded vehicles were permitted to move towards their respective destinations, the police officer said.
He said almost 60 percent of the traffic was cleared on the highway by this evening. “Traffic had to be stopped for nearly two hours near Panthal in Ramban district following the accident and subquent rescue operation,” he said.
Reports said there was landslide at Nashri during midnight but it was cleared by Border Road Organisation (BRO), entrusted for maintaining and keeping the highway motorable.
The arterial road was opened yesterday after remaining closed for three days following fresh snowfall, landslides and avalanches at several places along the Highway. The authorities had allowed only SRTC buses on both sides. (KMW NEWS)
