Srinagar:- In a Press Statement from Delhi, Begum Khalida Shah President J&K Awami National Conference paid rich tribute to her late Father Sheri Kashmir Sheikh Mohmmad Abdullah on his 106th Birth anniversary and said “ My Political Journey with my late Father was deep rooted . He was not only an institution by himself but also a great movement. His crusade against autocracy and sacrifice was long drawn and his incarceration of 22 years cannot be forgotten including the 11 year jail term of Kashmir Conspiracy case.
Factors that are important for a political movement are exploitation of society, poverty and lack of opportunities. These factors existed even before 1931 when the political intellectuals got together under his leadership to get rid of the injustices that were meted out to the people. He left no stone unturned till his death. Unfortunately after his departure, the direction of National Conference its ideology, principles and strategy changed drastically. Only those people get their due rights in a democratic set up who themselves follow the right path and for those who have a mass political base and an upright political leadership. She expressed her dismay at the weak leadership which has resulted in insecurity and helplessness with the people. The people face serious political and economic issues and JKANC endeavors to awaken each and every citizen of the state regarding these burning issues and appeal them not to work for the furtherance of the political rulers, but strive for their own rights, dignity, security and prosperity collectively and stand united against menace of corruption and mis- governance.
JKANC held meetings at Jammu and Srinagar, wherein rich tributes were paid to the departed leader ANC Senior Vice President Muzzaffar Shah also paid rich tributes to his late Grand Father and said that the late Sheri Kashmir held high the flag of communal harmony, equitable development in all the regions of the state and equal opportunity to all irrespective of cast, colour, creed, region or religion.
