Bashir Ahmed Bilour laid to rest

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) leader and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister, Bashir Ahmed Bilour was laid to rest at Syed Hasan Peer graveyard.

Earlier the funeral prayer of Bashir Ahmed Bilour was held at Colonel Sher Khan Army Stadium.
A suicide bomber on Saturday evening killed nine people including Mr Bilour his personal secretary and a senior police official.
ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Presidential Spokesman Farhatullah Babar, elder brother of Bashir Bilour, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, son Usman Bilour, large number of ANP workers besides representatives of other political parties participated in the funeral.
MQM delegation, PML-Q leader Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain and Mushahid Hussain Syed also offered funeral prayers of Bashir Bilour.
A national day of mourning has been announced by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf over the tragedy. The national flag would be flown at half-mast today in the honour of the ANP leader.
The provincial governments of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have also announced day of mourning.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Mian Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan, Altaf Hussain and others politicians expressed profound grief over the demise of the senior politician.
Mr Bilour was targeted by a suicide bomber after an ANP public gathering leaving him seriously injured. He was shifted to the Lady Ready Hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
SHO Razaq Khan Police Station and personal secretary of the minister had been on the spot.
Strict security measures were adopted at the stadium, which was sealed off before the funeral prayers.
Security arrangements of the stadium were handed over Pak army and FC.
Earlier today, funeral prayer of Bilour’s personal secretary Noor Muhammad was also held in high school Kakshal.
