Srinagar 20 March : Stating that the bad road conditions in Kashmir are “further damaging the economy” in the valley, the Kashmir Economic Alliance, Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Khan said such was never the bad condition of roads before.
In a statement Khan said from the City center of Lal Chowk to Airport Road to the connectivity with the towns and districts, the road network across Kashmir is flooded with potholes, neglected.
“How can business activities, including tourism improve in Kashmir if the roads are so much in bad condition,” Khan asked.
He said the shopkeepers were biggest victims of bad road as customers shy away from visiting markets lest it damages their vehicles be it in Srinagar or other districts from Kulgam in south to Kupwara in the north.
He said it was unfortunate that developmental activities have come to a standstill and that people were being taken forgranted.
“How can any development or prosperity take place in the absence of decent road connectivity,” Khan asked.
Khan appealed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to personally look into the matter so that Kashmir’s economy is spared from such loss due to bad roads.
