Srinagar: Chief Patron Jammu Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi (MeA) Muhammad Azam Inqilabi Thursday termed Indian defense minister A. K. Antony’s statement as reflective of Chanakiyan and imperialist mindset.
Antony Monday told the Lok Sabha that entire Jammu and Kashmir including Pakistan Administered Kashmir (Azad Kashmir) is integral part of India.
Taking exception to the Antony’s remark, Inqilabi said, “Indian hold on Kashmir is based on its military occupation.â€
He said right from 1947 Indian troops has killed nearly six lakh Kashmiris.
“In league with Dogra forces, Indian troops killed 2.5 lakh Muslims in Jammu province and forced more than four lakh to migrate to Pakistan in 1947 and this killing continues since then,†he added.
MeA patron said for the past 19 years Kashmiris are engaged in a peaceful and democratic resistance struggle but “Indian government continues to suppress it by using brute force.â€
He said resistance leaders were locked down in houses and police stations on August 11, 2012 to prevent them from paying tributes to Sheikh Aziz and other victims of 2008 unrest.
“But question arises what stopped leadership in Azad Kashmir to remember them through rallies and processions. Why they behaved like mute spectators?†he asked.
He said when Indian leadership accessed the situation they came up with the statement that “Azad Kashmir is part of India and is occupied by Pakistan.â€
Inqilabi said resistance veteran Syed Ali Geelani said “right thing that according to the UN resolutions entire Kashmir from Srinagar to Muzaffarabad is disputed and awaits resolution through referendum.â€
“But had he guided resistance leadership on both sides of ceasefire line to stress on right of self-determination in light of 13 August, 1948 UN resolution things might have been different. And may be Antony wouldn’t have dared to challenge the historic facts,†he said.
MeA patron said, “Indian leadership is suffering from arrogance of power.â€
He said on Nov. 11, 1947 the then Indian Prime Minister Pt. Nehru promised Kashmiris referendum at Lal chowk before the whole world.
“And then they reneged on their promise,†the press statement reads.
Inqilabi said Indian leadership should shun “stubbornness†on Kashmir front.
“Our struggle has the potential that it can attract ideological Muslim warriors from across the Muslim world. Indian atrocities here may guide them to take the charge,†he said.
He said these are consequences of which resistance leadership is aware of and is thus stressing on peaceful democratic resistance.
“So that pro-freedom sentiment is guided to influence India and Pakistan to find a peaceful and honorable way-out to the Kashmir issue by involving Kashmiris in the process.†(KMW News)
