SRINAGAR, MAY 09: Renowned academician, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo today assumed the charge of Advisor to Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti.
His status would be that of a cabinet Minister.
Earlier also, he was Advisor to former Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
An acclaimed educationist, Prof. Mattoo comes with rich experience of teaching and research at international institutes like Oxford, Melbourne and JNU. He has the distinction of being the youngest Vice-Chancellor in the country.
An expert on international relations, Prof. Mattoo has also served the Jammu University as Vice-Chancellor during which it attained heights of excellence. He has also been the Chief Executive Officer & inaugural Director of the Australia India Institute.
Recognising his contribution to education and public life, he was awarded Padma Shri in 2008.
