Speculations are rife that IAS Shaleen Kabra (1992-AGMUT) has emerged as a leading contender to succeed incumbent Atal Dulloo (1989-AGMUT)* as the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dulloo, who is scheduled to retire on October 31, 2026, has been serving as Chief Secretary since December 1, 2023. Sources said the Centre is examining possible names for the post and is also considering giving Dulloo a one-year extension* from November 1.
Kabra, currently Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) Jal Shakti, is among the names that have figured in discussions over the next Chief Secretary in the event Dulloo retires as scheduled.
No official appointment has been finalized yet.
