JAMMU, (KMW News): A delegation of the Akhil Bhartiya Gujar Mahasabha, Jammu and Kashmir Chapter, called on Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan, here today and presented a Memorandum of their demands.
The demands projected by the 13-member delegation led by Mr. Ishfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal, State President, Akhil Bhartiya Gujar Mahasabha, interalia, included provision of political reservation for the Scheduled Tribes in the State, launching of special recruitment drives by the Central Para-military Forces for the youth of Gujjar community residing in the border areas, strengthening the Directorate of Tribal Affairs in J&K, creation of a Tribal Affairs Ministry in the State and ensuring all round socio-economic development of the Scheduled Tribes in the State.
The Governor assured the deputation that he would discuss their demands with Ms. Sakina Ittoo, Minister for Social Welfare.
The members of the delegation included Ch. Naik Alam, Ch. Hameed Kassana, Ch. Bashir-ud-Din Banya, Ch. Allah Din Khatana, Ch. Mohammad Shabir, Ch. Tariq Manzoor, Ch. Munshi Khan, Ch. Mohammad Sadiq, Mr. Abdul Majeed Kohli, Ch. Mohammad Faiz, Mr. Salah Mohammad Kohli and Ch. Mohammad Farooq.
Mr. R. K. Goyal, Principal Secretary to the Governor, was present on the occasion.
