New Delhi: The BJP asserted that its stalwart Lal Krishna Advani’s Jan Chetna Yatra would continue despite reports of bomb being found in Alampatti in Tamil Nadu this morning but declined to state if the route has been altered.
Asked if the yatra route has been changed following the recovery of a ‘pipe bomb’, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told a news channel that he was very much inside the rath at the time of the incident and that the rath was proceeding towards Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.
When quizzed if the rath’s route has been altered, Mr Prasad said possibly some adjustments could have been made complying with the police advice. “As I understand Mr Advani, he will not be cowed down by such threats and the yatra would continue as per schedule.
Despite heavy rains, Mr Advani’s yatra had received a tremendous response in Madurai yesterday.
Being a national leader Mr Advani’s threat perception should be assessed by agencies concerned, Mr Prasad added.
