Srinagar: Taking a stern action in the wake of zero per cent results in tenth class board examinations, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has ordered suspension of 21 principals, including nine in the summer capital, Srinagar, for their dismal performance.
An official spokesman said here that Mr Abdullah took this step at a high-level meeting chaired by him here last evening.
He said a decision was taken to place all such principals of government schools under suspension which registered zero per cent results in recently held matriculation examination.
Not a single student from 21 government schools, including nine from Srinagar, have qualified in their exams.
The Education Department has also been advised to issue show cause notices to all such private schools which also registered zero per cent results so that appropriate action can be taken against such schools accordingly as well.
He said taking a strong cognisance of poor performance of this government and some other private institution in board examination, the Chief Minister said, “Strong action will be taken against the concerned.” The Chief Minister in the meeting directed that no Head of the Department (HODs) or head of district should leave the station without prior permission of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir.
He directed all HODs to conduct thorough tour to the district to interact with the people and administration and take on the spot decision for the redressal of their grievances.
About 66 per cent students have qualified in the tenth class examinations, results of which were announced by the board recently.
Five students scored first positions after securing 100 per cent marks. (KMW News)
