Shopian, January 24 (KMW): A teen was killed and another injured during clashes near the site of a gunfight between militants and government forces in Chaigund village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.
Quoting sources, reports said that two teenage boys were injured after forces fired tear gas and pellets to chase away the protesters trying to disrupt the anti-militant operation.
It said the injured were rushed to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Rajpora where one of them was declared dead on arrival.
Block Medical Officer PHC Javeed Ahmad Bhat, who operated upon the boy, confirmed the death. He identified the deceased as Shakir Ahmad Mir (17) of Qalampora.
“Shakir had received a bullet wound in his chest and as such succumbed,†Dr Javeed was quoted as having said by the reports.
Meanwhile, latest reports said that two girls were critically injured in the clashes.
An official said that two girls with bullet injuries were brought to District Hospital Pulwama where from they were referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment.
Both are residents of Odoo village of Shopian district.
