Srinagar: The Kargil courier service of Indian Air Force (IAF) today airlifted 130 passengers from Srinagar, Jammu and Kargil, which remained cut off from the rest of the state due to closure of Zojila pass on Srinagar-Leh highway.
Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Aamir Ali in the office of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, said here this afternoon that the courier service operated today to airlift these passengers.
He said 30 passengers were airlifted from Kargil to Srinagar, 28 from Srinagar to Kargil, 32 from Kargil to Jammu and 40 from Jammu to Kargil, in two AN-32 aircraft of IAF planes.
Earlier, 59 passengers had been airlifted between Kargil and Jammu on December 10 while 6 passengers on November 29.
The passengers airlifted also included 28 Hajj pilgrims out of 50 Hajj pilgrims, who have returned to Srinagar after performing Hajj.
State government has made arrangements for airlifting the other stranded passengers at Srinagar and Kargil tomorrow.
