Zakura Shootout : SI, Militant Killed; 1 rebel arrested alive

Srinagar, Nov 17 : A Sub-Inspector (SI) of Jammu and Kashmir police and an Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind militant were killed in a brief encounter while a rebel was caught alive in Srinagar Zakura outskirts on Friday afternoon.

A Special Police Officer (SPO) was also injured in the encounter.

Official sources said a group of three militants, travelling in a car, was intercepted at Zakoora crossing on Srinagar-Sonmarg road this afternoon.

However, the militants opened indiscriminate firing on the naka party resulting in injuries to two police personnel.
The injured were rushed to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) where SI Imran Ahmad Tak succumbed.
Mugees Mir according to police was local militant of Ansar Ghazwat ul Hind. Mughees belonged to Parimpora Srinagar and died in Zakura Hazratbal attack after succumbing to injuries sustained in the attack.
He was formerly associated with Lashkar e Toiba.

His dead body was received among tears and sobs from his friends and relatives with authorities declaring restrictions in eight police stations .
