Srinagar: The main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today said the youths, who were the first victims of the turmoil played an important role to restore normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a resolution passed at the end of the day-long youth convention here, the PDP noted that the youth of the state have put in their complete faith and trust in their party.
The resolution moved by party general secretary Mohammad Dilawar Mir said it was a fact that the youth have been the first and the worst victims of the turmoil in the state.
“Having been in the forefront all the time they have borne the brunt of the gun from all sides,” the resolution said and added once again it was the youth who have played a very important role in restoring the peace in the state.
Therefore, the PDP calls upon the Central government to consolidate the gains of this peace by initiating purposeful measures for a peaceful amicable and lasting solution of Jammu and Kashmir problem.
“Our party is of the firm belief that any such resolution will open a new world of opportunities to the youth of the state.
“In order to create an atmosphere of trust and reconciliation PDP repeats its demand of immediate release of all the political prisoners, youth arrested on flimsy grounds full restoration of political activity and a stop to the harassment of youth.
“The party once again calls for the withdrawal of cases against more than five thousand youth immediately as the recent announcement made by the government in this regard has turned out to be one more hoax lacking any action of the ground,” the PDP alleged.
