South Africa defeated India by three wickets in an exciting Group ‘B’ World Cup match in Nagpur today. Chasing 297 runs for a win, the Proteas surpassed the target by making 300 for 7 in 49.4 overs.
Earlier, electing to bat, co-hosts India made 296 in 48.4 overs.Sachin Tendulkar hit a blistering 111, which was his 48th ODI ton and also his Sixth in the World Cup. The century was also Tendulkar’s 99th international hundred.
Today’s defeat was India’s first in their five matches. They now have seven points from five games.
South Africa have six points from four matches.
Two matches are scheduled for tomorrow in the Cricket World Cup.
Canada takes on New Zealand in a Group ‘A’ Day Match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
In the Group-A Day-Night encounter at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, Australia meet Kenya.
