Srinagar: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested three persons including mother-in-law of a Hizbul Mujahideen commander for carrying weapons in Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
A police officer told Press Bureau of India that it arrested Qasim Jan wife of BAshir Ahmad Didad and two persons—Mohammad Farooq Didad and Nasir Ahmad Poswal for carrying weapons including a Pika gun, one pistol, 18 rounds and other ammunition from their possession.
He said Rs 4.40 lakh were also recovered from the possession of the woman, said to be the mother-in-law of Hizb Commander for Pir Panchal range, Inqalabi.
A case FIR 98/2010 has been registered in Damhal Hanjipora under section various sections of RPC and 60B, 80, 90 and 20 of arms act.
When contacted, SP Kulgam confirmed the arrests but asked to collect details from the police media cell, stating that he was busy in a meeting.
