SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 19: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir on Friday held an event to celebrate the graduation of its 5th and 6th DAESI diploma batches alongside the inauguration of a new NABARD-funded Facilitation-cum-Training Centre at Shalimar campus.

The NABARD-funded Facilitation-cum-Training Centre was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai. Established under the Directorate of Extension/SAMETI, the centre is designed to serve as a single-window platform for the capacity building of farmers and extension workers.

The facility aims to bridge the gap between lab research and field application, focusing specifically on skill development and the rapid dissemination of climate-smart agricultural technologies.

Speaking at the valedictory ceremony, Prof Ganai emphasised the pivotal role of agricultural input dealers. “Input dealers are often the first point of contact for a farmer. By professionalising this group through the DAESI program, we ensure that the advice given at the shop level is scientifically sound and need-based,” he stated.

Vice Chancellor lauded the Directorate of Extension for its collaboration with MANAGE, Hyderabad, noting that such institutional mechanisms are vital for a sustainable agricultural ecosystem.

The proceedings concluded with the distribution of certificates to the successful trainees of Batches 5 and 6.
