Kargil, November 08: The Lieutenant Governor, Ladakh, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd.) was called on Thursday (November 07) by several delegations from different areas of Kargil at Raj Niwas, Kargil.
Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse and Additional Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman were present during the meetings.
A delegation led by Executive Councilor, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj/ Cooperative, LAHDC, Kargil, Er. Punchok Tashi called on the Lieutenant Governor and discussed various issues that include border issues with Himachal Pradesh, facilities for cultural programs during the Dalai Lama’s visit to Zanskar next year, reframing of existing Homestay Policy, setting up a camp by ARTO Office Kargil in Zanskar for the issues of transporters etc.
The LG directed the Administrative Secretary, Tourism and Culture, UT Ladakh, to ensure support and facilities for the Dalai Lama’s upcoming visit to Zanskar.
Regarding the Homestay Policy, LG also directed the Administrative Secretary, Tourism and Culture to examine the matter and do needful as per rules.
The Lieutenant Governor also instructed DC Kargil to review and facilitate the establishment of a periodic ARTO camp at Zanskar by ARTO Office Kargil for the issues of transporters and ensure necessary actions are taken as per the established norms.
Regarding other issues, the Lieutenant Governor assured the delegation that all the issues will be resolved as per rules.
Chairperson, Haj Committee, UT Ladakh, Mohd Ali Majaz along with other members Mohammad Ali Chandan and Zaheer Hussain Babar, called on Lieutenant Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra and discussed the need for a permanent passport counter/centre in Kargil. They also requested for an ulema to accompany pilgrims during Haj for guidance.
The Lieutenant Governor assured that necessary steps will be taken for a passport counter/centre in Kargil and consideration of the request for an ulema during Haj will be looked into as per rules.
A delegation of watch and wards employees called on the LG and requested for enhancement of their salaries. In this regard, the Lieutenant Governor said the needful will be done as per rules.
A delegation led by Vice President All Transport Association Idrees Ahmad called on Lieutenant Governor and raised various issues of transporters including the pending permits for new buses.
In this regard, the Lieutenant Governor directed RTO Ladakh to finalize all the pending permits immediately. The LG also directed the Administrative Secretary, Transport to prepare a transport policy for Ladakh.
Councilor Panikhar, Abdul Hadi also called on the LG and requested for permanent Principal at Higher Secondary School, Biama Purtikchey and a school bus. In his reply, the
Lieutenant Governor said that the issues will be examined and needful will be done as per the established norms.
BJP State Media Secretary, Mohd Hassan Pasha called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and presented a memorandum of demands that included demand for PHC, completion of pending works of lift irrigation project, compensation for drought-hit areas etc. in Yourbaltak Constituency.
Regarding the pending works of lift irrigation, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor directed DC Kargil to complete all pending lift irrigation works by November 15, 2024. He also instructed the DC Kargil to examine and promptly address compensation for drought-hit areas and ensure that the demands are met as per norms.
Regarding other issues in Yourbaltak Constituency, the Lieutenant Governor assured that all issues would be addressed according to rules.
Sajjad Hussain, a Sub Inspector aspirant from Kargil called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and requested for age relaxation in SI recruitment in UT Ladakh. In this regard, the
LG said that the matter will be examined and needful will be done.
