Various delegations call on Lieutenant Governor, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra in Kargil

Kargil, January 03, 2025: The Lieutenant Governor, Ladakh, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd.) was called on today by several delegations from different areas of Kargil at Raj Niwas, Kargil.

Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse and Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Shree Ram R. were present during the meetings.

Zakir Hussain, a Tangole resident and Chakki Flour Mill owner called on Lieutenant Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra and requested for reconstruction of his mill and canal damaged by flood.

In this regard, the Lieutenant Governor directed I&FC Department Kargil to prepare a DPR and commence reconstruction of Zakir Hussain’s mill and canal after the winter season is over.

A delegation of residents from Yakza Umba called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor seeking construction of a bridge at Yakza. They also demanded to address the shortage of a science teacher at Government High School Yakza.

In reply of the demand for the construction of bridge, the Lieutenant Governor directed DC Kargil to look into the matter. The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor further directed Deputy Commissioner Kargil to examine the issue of the shortage of a science teacher and do needful as per norms. 

A delegation of Urdu teachers working in government schools called on the Lieutenant Governor and raised the issue faced by them regarding the promotions. In this regard, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor said that the matter will be examined.

A delegation of residents from Hardass Dupuithang also called on Lieutenant Governor and urged for the construction of a link road connecting Dupuithang to Hardass. In this regard, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor directed DC Kargil to look into the matter.

A delegation of residents from Jasgond Drass also called on Lieutenant Governor requesting inclusion of their village in the ALC Category and remodelling of an irrigation canal to support agricultural activities and improve crop irrigation. The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor said the issue of the ALC inclusion for Jasgond Drass would be examined. He directed DC Kargil and I&FC Department to look into the matter of irrigation canal and do the needful as per norms.

A delegation of Home Guard employees also called on Lieutenant Governor and raised various issues like pending salaries since August 2024, not getting salary of two months (yearly) and other unresolved issues affecting their welfare. While replying, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor assured them that the matter will be examined.

The Lieutenant Governor also interacted with various other delegations and individuals from across the district including officials of various departments and other individuals seeking financial assistance. He gave a patient hearing to all their issues and said that their genuine demands will be looked into as per norms within specific time-lines.
