Valley cricketers to get professional training in Mumbai

Srinagar: In an effort to promote cricket in Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar based ‘Kashmir Sports Academy’ has shortlist three players to be trained professionally in Mumbai.
Organizers of the camp, Showkat Masoodi and Dr Ajaz Ashai, said that camp was held here last week in which three players were short listed.
“This is small effort to promote cricket in Kashmir and the shortlisted players will be imparted professional training in Mumbai,” Showkat Masoodi, proprietor of Mass Sports Industry, Eidgah (cricket bats manufacturing), said.
Dr Ajaz Ashai, former physiotherapist with Mumbai Ranji team said that main aim to organize the camp was to support budding cricketers to fulfill their dream.
“There is lot of talent in Kashmir and more often, we see players lack behind due to this lack o proficiency about the game. Our effort is aimed to hone their skills so that they can compete with best,” says, Dr Ajaz Ashai, who is physiotherapist consultant of India’s top cricketer, Sachin Tandulkar.
In all 22 players attended the camp held at Eidgah here in old city and the players were shortlisted by Mehjoor Ali and Mudasir, Kashmir’s senior players.
The shortlisted players would be looked after by Chief of Kashmir Sports Academy, based in Mumbai—Gowher Nabi Wani, the organizers said.
