Islamabad: Possibly ending speculation over the death of al-Qaeda linked dreaded terrorist Ilyas Kashmiri, Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani today said the US has confirmed his killing.
“As far as the death of Ilyas Kashmiri is concerned, America has confirmed that his death occurred on Friday,” Gilani told a news conference in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province.
He was asked about the reports of Kashmiri’s death that has been circulating since Saturday.
Washington has still not publicly said anything on the death of Kashmiri, who carried a reward of Rs 5 million on his head, announced by the US.
Kashmiri was reportedly killed in a US drone strike on June 3 in South Waziristan and his group HuJI had confirmed the death of its commander.
