Union MSME Minister urges banking sector to create entrepreneurship culture in J&K

SRINAGAR, MAY 08: Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Kalraj Mishra, on Sunday urged banking sector to create entrepreneurship culture by providing hassle-free services to start-ups.
Speaking at a daylong workshop on Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Mishra said banks should be customer friendly by providing hassle free services to them on priority basis.
“Banks shouldn’t add to their (entrepreneurs) worries. They should be given free hand in choosing their trades,” Mishra told the gathering. “The financial institutions should professionally perform their job but dispose off cases on priority,” he added.
The function was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) in collaboration with Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) at Institute of Hotel Management (IHM). The Minister who is on three days visit to Jammu and Kashmir to took stock of the small and medium scale industries .
The Minster urged the officials to create networking across all the regions and down at the grassroots. He said that Union government has created a framework to uplift the small scale and Khadi units across Jammu and Kashmir. He said that his Ministry would give all sorts of help to revive and uplift the small scale industries across J&K. He directed the officials to reach out to the entrepreneurs and provide them all sort of help and assessment. “Banking and our officials should have a coordination to work with full dedication and commitment to help start-ups grow manifold,” he said. “Once you will listen to their grievances you will have a clear idea of what needs to be done,” he said. “We will have to hear their problems and assure them address them positively,” he said.
The Union Minister was accompanied by the Minster for Industries, Chander Prakash Ganga, Union Secretary, MSME, Chairman, KVIC, Secretary, CEO, KIVB, Director EDI, among other senior officials of the State and Centre.
Mishra directed officials to impart them full training of using these newly launched updated e-Charkhas. Mishra informed that the Pashmina, which was out of the ambit of the MSME has been included into the list. “We are doing our every bit to help the small scale unit holders. By reachin go out to the entrepreneurs we can make sure more and more people become self-reliant and self sustainable,” Mishra said.
He said that Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), would be a big success if more avenues are created for entrepreneurs. “We are conducting skill development programmes for the entire value chain of manufacturing, starting from village industries to state-of-the-art manufacturing sectors, such as engineering and auto components, among several others,” he said. “We have set a target of training 1.5 crore youth by 2022. The 18 tool rooms and technology development centres under the ministry are providing both long- and short-term training to more than one lakh youth at present,” he added.
He said that his ministry was implementing a number of schemes and programmes for the benefit of the MSME sector and facilitating the promotion and development by giving access to credit, infrastructure development and technology up gradation, etc. he said that they have launched various schemes for promotion of innovation, entrepreneurship and to provide help for the agro industry. The workshop was addressed by Minister for Industries and Commerce, J&K Chander Prakash Ganaga, among other officials of the department.
Prakash told the entrepreneurs to come forward to seek further help and assistance. The workshop, which was participated, by male and women entrepreneurs, was informed that more than 200 stalls have been arranged at the National Khadi Exhibitation, in which artisans and entrepreneurs from all over the country showcase their products. 100 stalls exhibit local products including silk, Khadi, Namdas, Pashmina, woolens and many other products. Products which are expected to be at display from outside the state are herbal based products from Kerela, Chappals from Rajasthan and specialties from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh Haryana and other states. Later Union minister addressed the press conference in which he urged the officials to create massive awareness campaign of MSME schemes. He directed officials to aware people about e-charkhas units, where mostly women folk work.
