SRINAGAR: Union Minister of State for CAPD, K. B. Thomas accompanied by Chairman Food Corporation of India, Siraj Hussain called on Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah here this evening and briefed him about the discussions they had with the State CAPD Ministry regarding various CAPD matters.
Jammu and Kashmir Minister for CAPD, Qamar Ali Akhoon, Minister of State, Shabir Ahmad Khan and Commissioner Secretary, Pradeep Gupta were also present in the meeting.
The Union Minister said that his Ministry is initiating a scheme in the State to develop storage capacity in the private sector. He said Private Entrepreneurs Guarantee Scheme (PEGS) to be launched in Jammu and Kashmir in PPP mode would help to built storage capacity for 3.60 lakh tones of food grains. He assured full support of his Ministry to the State for upgradation and improvement in the CAPD affairs. He appreciated the CAPD distribution system of Jammu and Kashmir.
