Union Cabinet Secretary reviews development scenario of J&K

JAMMU: Wrapping up the day long sectoral discussion of development related issues and implementation of centrally sponsored schemes in the State, Cabinet Secretary Mr Ajit Seth said the real progress can only be achieved when the beneficiaries of development projects feel a sense of satisfaction.

The Cabinet Secretary termed the discussions held through the day as highly useful while complementing the State team led by the State Chief Secretary Mr Mohammad Iqbal Khanday. He said both Central and State teams have worked hard to achieve substantial progress and resolve several development related issues. He said it is a continuous process and will be carried forward in right earnest to resolve all other pending issues.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday said that significant progress was achieved in settling many development issues from the States point of view adding that this will go a long way in putting Jammu and Kashmir on the right developmental trajectory. He said that the State Government will further pursue the pending issues with the Union Government in coming days.
During the wrap-up-meeting, the State Secretaries heading different sectoral groups constituted for the purpose apprised the meeting about the results and progress achieved during the reviews held with the concerned Union Secretaries throughout the day.
The sectors that came up for discussion included Civil Aviation, Water Resources, Power, Social Welfare, Tourism and Culture, Higher Education, Technical Education, School Education, Wetland Management, Urban Development, Health and Family Welfare, Handicrafts, Agriculture and allied activities, Skill Development, Railways, Road projects etc.
The Central team comprised Advisor to Prime Minister Mr S Ramadorai, Secretary Planning Commission Ms Sindhushree Khullar, Defense Secretary, Mr Shashi Kant Sharma, Secretary Coordination Cabinet Secretariat Mr Alok Rawat, Secretary Power Mr P Uma Shankar, Secretary Rural Devlopment S Vijay Kumar, Secretary Higher Education Mr Ashok Thakur, Secretary Road Transport and Highways, Mr Vijay Chhiber, Secretary Civil Aviation K N Shrivastava, Secretary Agriculture and cooperation Mr Ashish Bahugana, Secretary Health and Family Welfare Mr Keshav Desiraju, Secretary School Education Mr R Bhatacharia, Secretary Textiles Zohra Chatterji, Secretary Water Resources S K Sarkar and other senior level officers.
The State Team Comprised Principal Secretary Planning and Development Mr B.R.Sharma, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr B B Vyas, Principal Secretary Home, Mr Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary PDD A.K Mehta and other administrative Secretaries and senior officers.
