Unidentified militant killed in an ongoing encounter at Kreeri

Srinagar, August 22: A militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter that has raged between forces and militants at Chak e Saloosa locality of Kreeri area in Baramulla district. As per local sources, there is an intense exchange of fire going on that can be heard in the outskirts of the village.
SSP Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom, while confirming about the encounter said that following inputs about the presence of three militants in the area, a joint operation was launched. As the forces were carrying out searches at a suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them triggering an encounter in an orchard.
This is the second encounter in Kreeri area in last four days after militants ambushed on deployed forces killing two CRPF men and a cop. Two to three militants are believed to be hiding in the orchard as the operation is in progress.
