Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested an under-trial, who escaped from District Jail Kathua three months ago.
“Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted and under-trial identified Sohan Singh, who escaped from the District Jail Kathua on August 22, was arrested last evening from Hatta Maskah in Basholi area along J&KHP border,” police sources here today told.
Three officials including an Assistant Superintendent were suspended after an inmate managed to give a slip to the jail staff on August 22.
He was a resident of tehsil Basholi of Kathua district and was allegedly involved in a murder case in 1998.
A fresh case under FIR number 320 and under section 224 of RPC was also registered against an inmate at Kathua Police Station.
