Srinagar: Two more girls committed suicide in the Kashmir valley, where the trend of taking extreme step has not stopped even after Muslim ulemas, separatist leaders and social organisation have launched a massive campaign against it.
Official sources said here this afternoon a girl, who was not identified, consumed poison in her Mujmarg house in south Kashmir district of Shopian.
However, she was immediately taken to local hospital by her family members they said, adding the girl was referred to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) where she was declared brought dead.
Another girl also consumed poison in her Gawran house in Anantnag. She was rushed to district hospital from where she was referred to SKIMS where she died.
They said it was not immediately clear why these girls took extreme step.
Police registered a case and initiated proceedings.
The Muslim ulemas, including Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir Mufti Bashiruddin, have issued a fatwa against it. However, the trend had not stopped.
