Two militants killed in ongoing Shopian gunfight

Srinagar Jan 22(KMW): Two militants were killed in an ongoing gunfight on Tuesday in Heff Shirmal area of in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Reports said that a joint team of army’s 44RR, 23Para and SOG launched cordon and search operation in Heff Shirmal after having credible input about the presence of some militants in the area.
As the forces intensified the searches, the militants opened fire on them triggering off a gunfight, they said.
An official said that two militants were killed in a gunfight so far. “Their identities and affiliations are being ascertained,” he added.
The authorities have snapped mobile Internet service in the area.
When reports last came in the intermittent exchange of firing was going on.
