Two militants killed in late evening encounter

Srinagar, Dec 8: Two suspected ‘militants’ were killed after counter insurgent SOG group engaged them in a gun fight near Sempora Pampore when they were reportedly travelling in a vehicle on Tuesday evening.
Police sources told News Agency that a Tata Mobile that passed through the naka laid down DySP Operations Shehzad Ahmed near JKEDI building at Sempora Pampore stopped at a distance and the militants in it resorted to indiscriminate firing. The Police naka party retaliated ensuing a gun fight between the Forces and militants.
The gun shots reverberating in air created panic in the area. Traffic came to a grinding halt while the drivers turned back their vehicles and adopted alternative routes.
Reports said that in the ensuing gun battle two militants were killed. A police official on condition of anonymity said that they had received specific information that a group of militants will pass through the road. “A naka was laid down. The vehicle in which militants were travelling did not stop near the naka and instead the militants present in it attacked the naka party. The retaliation on part of SOG party kills two militants,” he said.
