Srinagar: Â A trooper was killed in militant ambush in Kishtwar of Jammu region on Friday, officials told Press Bureau of India.
Spokesman of army’s 16 Core, based in Nagrota—imran said militants ambushed an army patrol near Nawa Pachi area in the Kishtwar district this afternoon, wounding a soldier of army (TA battalion) this afternoon. The injured trooper identified as Manzoor Ahmad illahi of Kishtwar, was rushed to base hospital in Udhampur where he succumbed to wounds, he said.
While the army has launched the searches in the area after the attack, attackers were at large when reports last came in.
Meanwhile, trooper was injured when his service rifle “accidentally†went off in Jammu’s Udhampur district.
Jatinder Singh of Agra, a 4 Rashtriya Rifle trooper, was hit by a bullet when his rifle went off in Rai Chak forest belt in Basantgarh during routine operation late last night, officials said. He has been hospitalized.
