Srinagar, Sep 7 : Police Monday detained several trade union leaders, including Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation, President Mohammed Yasin Khan and Sowkat Chowdhury, ahead of their proposed meeting at Lal Chowk to protest the ‘failure’ of government to rehabilitate victims of the last year’s deluge.

Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries or KCCI has condemned the police action.
Trade unions have called for a strike today to protest against what they termed as failure of governments, both at the state and Centre, to rehabilitate the victims, especially traders, a year after the deluge.
“There would be complete shutdown across Kashmir. When floods hit Kashmir, the international community offered to help. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi rejected it saying, they will help Kashmir. A year has passed, but the promise has not been fulfilled.”
