Srinagar, Dec 26: Top Jaish Commander Noor Mohammed Tantray aka Noor Trali was killed in an encounter with government forces in Samboora village of Pulwama district on Tuesday. The police termed the killing of Trali as ‘significant breakthrough’ and accused him one of the chief architects of the BSF camp attack near Srinagar airport this year.
According to the reports reaching news agency, acting on a specific input government forces cordoned a cluster of houses at Samboora which resulted in a fierce gun battle leading to killing of top JeM commander Noor Mohammed Tantray.
Soon after the killing of Trali, all entry and exit points were leading to his native place Darganaie Gund village of Aripal tehsil were sealed with barbed wires amid heavy deployment of forces. However, thousands of people defied the restrictions to participate in the funeral prayers of slain militant commander. Militants appeared during the funeral and fired several round in air to pay tribute to Trali. He was laid to rest in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Meanwhile authorities have snapped internet services in Pulwama district, while railway authorities have suspended train service to south Kashmir.
Pertinently, according to Police spokesman Trali was a convict in a case registered some time in 2003 in Delhi, and was serving his sentence at Central Jail Srinagar until he was out on parole in the year 2015.
Consequently, he remained in Tral and became a major over ground worker of JeM in the belt.
In July 2017, after the Aripal encounter, where three JeM militants were killed, Noor went underground and soon became the key man of JeM in coordinating and organising attacks at different places. The said accused was one of the chief architects of the BSF camp attack near Srinagar airport this year.
Meanwhile APHC spokesman paying rich tributes to Noor Muhammad Tantray stated that the Kashmiri youth are spilling their blood for the freedom and self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, adding, the mission of martyrs will be realized and it’s the collective responsibility of leadership and people to protect and safeguard the great mission of martyrs.
