Tokyo/New Delhi, April Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his warm hospitality during the annual summit last month and said he is delighted to commemorate the 70 years of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties.
In a tweet, replying to PM Modi’s greetings, PM Kishida also said the two leaders should walk the road ahead to build on the past bilateral achievements.
“I would like to reiterate my sincere appreciation to you, Modi ji @narendramodi
for your warm hospitality.
“70 years ago today, Japan-India established diplomatic relations and embarked on a new journey of friendship.
“Delighted to celebrate this commemorative day with Modi ji. Together let us walk the road ahead, building on our past achievements,” he tweeted on Thursday late evening.
On Thursday, as India and Japan marked 70 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties, Prime Minister Modi in a tweet said the visit last month of Japanese PM Fumio Kishida for the annual summit had laid out a roadmap for deepening of the special strategic ties in a post-Covid world.
In tweets in Japanese and English, the PM said that he looks forward to continue working with PM Kishida to realize the objective:
“As we celebrate 70 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Japan today, I am happy to see that our ties have deepened in every sphere, whether strategic, economic or people-to-people contacts.
“The recent visit of my friend PM Kishida @kishida230 to India for the Annual Summit laid out a roadmap for deepening our Special Strategic and Global Partnership in a post-COVID world. I look forward to continue working with PM Kishida to realize that objective. #IndiaJapanat70.”
The Japanese PM was in India on March 19-20 for the 14th India-Japan Annual Summit with PM Modi, in his first bilateral visit to India.
PM Modi is to head for Japan next month for the Quad Summit that it to be held on May 24.
