Srinagar, October 04: To eradicate the rising social evils in historical Maisuma area of Srinagar City and its adjoining areas, a committee was formed by the prominent citizens of the area after taking serious note of the widespread evils.
In this regard, a meeting of the conscious people of the area was held in which the growing social evils were deeply regretted and the responsibilities of each other to stop this process were realized.
The meeting unanimously elected Ajaz Ahmed War, a journalist by profession, as the president of the committee.
On the occasion, Ajaz Ahmed War assured the members that he would realize his responsibilities and use his tireless efforts to eradicate social evils. He said the residential area here are being converted into commercial centers. He said that the concerned authorities would be informed in this regard and the door of law would be knocked if necessary.
He made it clear that rich history and heritage of Maisuma area since many years is under threat, and the Maisuma Behbood Committee would take steps to refurbish the entire area towards betterment.
