Time ripe to revive imprints of Shaheed-A-Azam Bhagat Singh: SMJ

Jammu:Sanskriti Manch Jammu (SMJ), a cultural organization promoting the essence of cultural ethos, values of nationalism and patriotism among youngsters organized a programme today to commemorate the martyrdom of Shahid Bhagat Singh, Rajgugu and Sukhdev, who sacrificed their lives for attaining the freedom of the country.On this occasion, the martyrdom of great Punjabi Poet Avtar Singh ‘Paash’ was also recalled.The buding writers, intellectuals and the cultural activists of Sanskriti Manch, Jammu paid heart rending tributes to great souls. i.e. Shahid Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev including revolutionary poet Avtar Singh ‘Paash’.The programme was presided over by eminent writer Sanjana Koul, founder Sanskriti Manch, Manoj Sharma, Dr Shohab Inayat Malik, Head of Urdu Department, University of Jammu and Abhimanyu Sharma, President SMJ.On this occasion, a poetic meet was also held remembering the patriotic sacrifices of great martyrs. Three new budding poets. i.e. Rohit Sharma, Tilak Raj and Mohit Sharma recited their poems besides others Maharaj Krishan Santoshi, Dr Ashok Kumar, Sanjeev Bhasin, Sudhir Mahajan, Sheikh Mohd. Kalyan, Krishan Kumar, Arvind Kumar and Anuresh Singh.In her presidential address, poet Sanjana Koul gave a clarion call to young generation not to forget their culture and the great martyrs. While recalling the martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Paash she expressed concern over the attitude of present day society. She stressed the need to ponder over the direction in which the society was moving aimlessly and asked the young generation to imbibe in them the revolutionary ideas of great patriots.In his opening statement, writer and editor of “Dharti” magazine, Shailendra Chouhan threw light on the life and principles of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. He euguloised the masses especially the young generation to inculcate in them the ideals of Shahid Bhagat Singh who fought for the social transformation of society on the basis of equality and hardwork.Chouhan emphasized that it will be a great tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam if we engross with their two slogans only i.e. ‘long live revolution and down-down with impreralism’ and that will be the real tribute to them.Noted cultural activist and Head of Urdu Department, University of Jammu Dr Shohab Inayat Malik emphasised upon the young generation and budding intellectuals to grasp the message of love and brotherhood given by great patriot Shaheed-e-Azam, Bhagat Singh.Founder of SMJ and renowned Hindi poet and cultural activist Manoj Sharma while remembering the sacrifices of great men said if we follow the way they have shown to us, then it will be a tribute in real terms.In his welcome address, Abhimanyu Sharma, President of SMJ, said time is ripe for youngsters to recognize their glorious past and the rich cultural heritage of India. Mr Sharma said that society can be changed only if the attitudes of the people living in it changed.Ms Seema Anil Sehgal, daughter of soil, renowned singer and widely acclaimed at national and international level also graced the occasion. She recited the poetry of Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachhan and Dogri poet Yash Sharma.The programme commenced with two minutes silence observed while paying glowing tributes to a great Marxist thinker Kamla Prasad.A poster exhibition based on the poetry of revolutionary poet Paash and ideas of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh was also organized. The programme was conducted by general secretary of SMJ, Sheikh Mohd Kalyan .
