Three militants killed in J&K

Srinagar, Jan 24: Three militants were killed in two separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday while a massive search operation was launched in North Kashmir to flush out the militant that according to Defense sources were hiding in an congested area.
Reports said that two unidentified non local militants were killed in an encounter that broke out in Hadoora area of Shuhama in Ganderbal here in Central Kashmir on Tuesday afternoon. The death of these two militants resulted after an exchange of fire between them and the government forces.
Eyewitnesses told CNS that government forces including army men from 5 Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF and SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police cordoned off the Hadoora area after the inputs about the presence of couple of militants in a residential house. As the government forces zeroes in on the house of one Abdul Hamid Bhat, the militants fired upon the searching party ensuing a fierce gunfight. Reports said that the house where militants were hiding was blasted resulting in the death of two militants.
Both the bodies and two AK-47 rifles were recovered from the site of the gunfight.
A police official said that both the militants were non-locals.
Meanwhile, government forces on Monday night launched a massive search operation in Arampora village of Sopore in Baramulla district.
Reports said that the operation was launched in Teliyan Mohalla of Arampora after a tip-off about the presence of some militants in the area.
Forces launched house-to-house searches however neither any arrest was made nor any contact was established with the alleged militants.
Meanwhile, a militant was killed in a gunfight along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu region. In a statement, army said that they foiled an infiltration bid in early hours on Tuesday along the LoC in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri. “The alert troops engaged the infiltrators with effective automatic fire while drawing heavy retaliatory fire,” it said.
One militant was killed in the gunfight. His body was recovered with a weapon and ammunition. (CNS)
