Three Militants killed in Kakapora Kashmir Gunbattle

Srinagar 2 April (KMW):In a major Gunbattle in Kakpora area of the Pulwama district located to the south of Kashmir valley three militants were killed .

The slain militants were identified as Junaid Ahmad Nengroo, resident of Prichoo, Pulwama, Suhail Nisar Lone and Yawar Ahmad Wani both residents of Khrew Pampore, affiliated with proscribed militant outfits Al-Badr/LeT, the police said.
The police further stated two among the slain were involved in the attack on BJP Leader’s house in Nowgam.

This encounter started in Pulwama’s Kakapora area, after police and forces launched Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) there, which later turned into a gunbattle. After hours of the encounter, police confirmed that three militants were killed.

However, several civilians sustained injuries amid the clashes near the encounter site and a 25 year old girl received a bullet injury in her leg in the cross firing.

South Kashmir in past one decade has been seeing several deadly encounters on regular basis .
At the encounter site, one AK and one pistol have been recovered. Our snatched SLR bearing number 51392/1108DPS which was taken away from Nowgam yesterday, has also been recovered from the encounter and proves that the slain militants were involved in the Nowgam attack,” said IGP Kashmir.
