Srinagar: A youth who was injured in army firing at Shopian village on Saturday succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS Soura, Wednesday morning taking the death toll to three, sources said.
Rayees Ahmad Ganie son of Mohammad Yousuf Ganie (21) of Narpora, Shopian succumbed to injuries after battling for life for about five days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura.
His brain was critically damaged as he was hit by bullet on his head,” sources in SKIMS said.
Pertinently, two youth Javed Ahmad Bhat (20) of Balpora and Suhail Javed Lone (24) of Ganowpora Shopian died while several others were injured in army firing at Ganawpora village of Shopian on January 27. Rayees was among the critically injured. The passing away of Rayees has taken death toll in the Shopian firing incident to three.
State government has already ordered an inquiry in the Shopian firing incident.
