Los Angeles, April Hollywood is coming up with a bunch of different and interesting films this year, some turning out to be unexpected hits. One such film which hit theatres just a few days back is director Roger Egger’s Dark Ages Viking revenge drama “The Northman”.

Starring Alexander Skarsgard, Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor Joy, Claes Bang, Ethan Hawke, William Dafoe, Gustav Lindh and Bjork, the film has turned out a far bigger hit than expected.

A gore laden historical epic, the movie is based on the legend of Amleth. The story follows a Norse prince who seeks vengeance for the murder of his father.

The film is noted for its high production value, great cast, atmosphere, depiction of Norse culture but above all its graphic visceral violence.
Bludgeoning its competitors with the ferocity and intensity like the champions of Valhalla, the film has currently been ranked number 1 over the weekend while just a few days ago “The Bad Guys” , “Sonic the Hedgehog 2”, and “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” were all ahead of it.

The primary reason for these three being ahead of “The Northman” was due to the fact that all three carry family appeal in comparison to Egger’s  revenge drama.
Nonetheless, the uptick in the film’s recent ranking also indicates that the movie is more than likely to surpass the expected returns at the box office having currently grossed over $25 million.
It has received public and critical acclaim and is more than likely to the best Hollywood film of the month.
