Tension between India, Pak to continue unless dialogue on K-issue starts: Hurriyat (M)

Srinagar June 24 (KMW): A meeting of Hurriyat (M) Executive Council and General Council members presided over by the Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was held at Mirwaiz Manzil Nigeen.
According to a statement issued to KMW, the meeting was attended by the executive members Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, Musadiq Adil, Moulana Abbas Ansari and Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, political advisor to Hurriyat Abdul Majeed Banday, Media advisor Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, members of General Council Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, Javed Ahmad Mir, Abdul Manan Bukhari, Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi and Abdul Qayoom. The participants took detailed view of the ongoing local and regional political situation.
Terming the increasing tense relationship between India and Pakistan as a threat for the regional peace and stability, it was stressed that the tensions between the two nations would not end unless a meaningful engagement, between the two countries, to address all pending issues including Kashmir issue is not initiated. It was stated that the confrontation between the two nuclear armed neighbors has the potential to tear apart the regional peace and thus creation of a favorable atmosphere was imperative for the start of a meaningful dialogue in the given political situation.
Coming down heavily on the state’s coalition regime, the participants stated that the claims of so called government regarding relief and rehabilitation of last year’s flood victims have prove to be only a jugglery of statistics and slogans, adding, that the government has completely failed till date to formulate a proper strategy to deal with the economic crisis which has surfaced in Kashmir in the aftermath of deadly floods. They stated such callousness on the part of the ruling regime was highly deplorable and aptly displays the inimical attitude of the rulers towards the people.
The participants also discussed public contact campaign of Hurriyat started at grass root level and decided to continue with the campaign full zeal and zest. It was decided that public contact campaign would be made more activated after the holy month of Ramadan.
While paying tributes to the martyrs in Redwani Kulgam, the participants condemned the use of firepower against protesters, ransacking of shops, and setting ablaze of houses. They stated that unbridled powers vested with the forces give them license to kill people at their will.
